Iceland’s version of 911 is 112. You can call this number within Iceland to reach the police and fire departments, as well as rescue forces.
U.S. citizens who have an emergency and need to reach the U.S. Embassy during normal working hours, 0800-1700 Monday through Friday excluding US and Icelandic holidays, should call the U.S. Embassy switchboard at (354) 595-2200.
U.S. citizens who have an emergency and need to contact the U.S. Embassy outside of normal working hours should call the Embassy Duty Officer at (354) 693-9207.
Please Note: The Duty Officer number is only for emergency situations involving U.S. citizens. Inquiries regarding non-emergency U.S. citizen services, such as renewing a passport or replacing a lost or stolen passport, should be made during normal working hours. Other non-emergency services, including visa inquiries or any other service other than U.S. citizen services, should be directed to the Embassy switchboard during normal working hours or sent to the Consular section via email at: ReykjavikConsular@state.gov
