Art in Embassies 2011

March 29, 2011

Canadian Embassy employee Hjördís Hreinsdóttir and Canada's Honorary Consul to Iceland Jón H. Bergs

U.S. Ambassador to Iceland Luis Arreaga, Mrs. Arreaga and Canadian Ambassador to Iceland Alan Bones welcomed invited guests to the opening of the "Art in Embassies" exhibition that will reside in Ambassador and Mrs. Arreaga's residence throughout their time in Iceland. The exhibition highlights connections with the Pacific Northwest region of the North American continent, especially in Alaska, which shares the same latitude with Iceland. The exhibition also highlights the commonality between the indigenous peoples of Alaska and Canada and the Icelandic people celebrating each culture's close link to the sea, their deep spiritualism, and their fierce independence.
