Simple Renewal
If you meet certain conditions, you can renew your passport without appearing before the consul. You can simply mail in your application (see special instructions below), or drop it off and pay the required fees between 14.00 - 15.30 on mondays and wednesdays through fridays.
To qualify for “simple” renewal, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- You can submit your most recent passport. The passport must be in good condition.
- You were at least 16 years old when your most recent passport was issued.
- Your most recent passport was issued less than 15 years ago.
- You use the same name as on your most recent passport, OR you have had your name changed by marriage or court order and can submit proper documentation to reflect the name change. More
If you do not meet all these conditions, you must follow the procedures specified below for first-time applicants and all other renewals.
First-Time Passport Applicants and All Other Passport Renewals
If you do not meet the criteria for “simple” passport renewal, you automatically fall into the category of first-time applicants and all other renewals. Everyone in this category must appear at the Embassy after making an appointment to sign his or her passport application under oath before the consul. Exception: Parents of minors 16 and under must appear and sign on their behalf. more
