If you are currently in Iceland and have been requested to sign a document in front of a U.S. notary for the purposes of using the document in the United States, the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik can assist. Notary services are available regardless of your nationality. You must bring a valid government issued ID (such as a passport or drivers license) at the time of your appointment.
The fee for each notarial is $50, payable in U.S. dollars or the Icelandic kronur equivalent. The $50 fee is per notary signature – for example, if you have a document that needs to be signed by a notary in four places, you will be required to pay the $50 fee four times. Please be advised of this in advance and plan accordingly. The Embassy does not accept personal checks or debt cards. Credit cards are accepted for notary fees.
