On June 25, 2009 the U.S. Embassy hosted its annual National Day Celebration in honor of the 233rd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Over two hundred members of the diplomatic corps, Icelandic government, journalists, businessmen, and friends attended the celebration. Chargé d'Affaires Neil Klopfenstein toasted the strong friendship between the United States and Iceland, noting our shared heritage of democratic governance, entrepreneurship, and individual freedom. Entertainment was provided by the “Three Voices” who sang renditions of classics from American music such as, “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)” to “Crazy” by Beyoncé.
