A Fellowship for Icelanders
August 10, 2009
Creighton University in the United States has decided to grant Ragnheiður Á. Gunnarsdóttur a fellowship. The fellowship offer was for tuition and a generous stipend of $10,000. According to Ragnheidur she said that decision was taken because of the economic situation in Iceland. She doesn´t know how many applied for the grant but says she is honored to receive the fellowship and looks at it as an incredible opportunity.
Ragnheidur says: “This has been an adventure. I got to know that I had received the fellowship the 1st of July and I am going to the U.S. the 15th of August so I’ve been very busy getting everything ready.” She will stay in Omaha for the next two years and concentrate on her Masters in International Relations. She already has a degree in business with focus on international marketing.
Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Iceland, Neil Klopfenstein gave her a certificate as a confirmation of the fellowship.
