There are five categories of Employment-Based Visas.

The Embassy cannot process this type of visa until a petition has been filed with and approved by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

In most cases, the petitions are filed by the sponsoring U.S. employer.  These petitions cannot be filed at the Embassy.

Adjustment of status in the U.S.

If the alien is already in the United States and plans to adjust status in the U.S., contact the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
