U.S. Official Visits Iceland to Discuss Environmental Issues

Environment, Science, Technology and Health (ESTH) Affairs Officer for the Nordic/Baltic Region Jan Erik Hall visited Iceland October 31st thru November 3rd to learn about various ESTH issues.  He discussed Iceland's renewable energy resources, efforts to promote whale watching, academic programs that focus on Iceland's expertise in harnessing geothermal energy and climate change negotiations. 

Mr. Hall met with officials at the whale museum in Husavik, the Renewable Energy School and the Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna program in Akureyri.  In Reykjavik he met with the Director and President of Landvernd (an Environmental NGO), the Director of NyOrka hydrogen company, Iceland's Climate Change Negotiator at the Ministry of Environment and officials at Keilir Atlantic Center for Excellence.
