Ásdis Halla Bragadóttir graduated from Harvard University, JFK School of Government in Public Policy in 2000 through a Fulbright grant.
Through her leadership in her past and current positions, as a former Mayor of the town of Gardabaer, Iceland and the CEO of BYKO, Ásdis Halla has been a strong advocate of women’s participation in business in the community.

She currently holds the position of the CEO of BYKO, which operates the biggest construction products stores, eight of them in all, in Iceland with considerable activities abroad. BYKO also operates two ELKO home appliance super-stores, two Intersport sportswear stores and Húsgagnahollin, a furniture super-store.

Ásdís Halla has also written numerous articles that have been published at home and abroad, and has lectured far and wide, mainly on her area of expertise: leadership, governance of municipalities and education.  She is also the author of a book published in 2000 that contains interviews with five leading Icelanders.
