The U.S. Embassy invited youth wing representatives from all political parties, and a number of representatives of the Icelandic media to participate in a background briefing on the U.S. Presidential Election process. Deputy Chief of Mission Neil Klopfenstein, a native of Iowa, gave a brief introduction and explanation of the Caucus process while Political Officer Brad Evans, a graduate of Dartmouth University in New Hampshire, briefed the participants on the Primary process. The 24 guests were then invited to participate in a mock caucus after being made "honorary U.S. citizens" by Klopfenstein. The group elected Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Caucus and John McCain in the Republican Caucus. The guests were invited

to enjoy refreshments while DCM Neil Klopfenstein and Political Officer Brad Evans held a brief question and answer session. An interesting evening, highlighting the international interest in the 2008 Presidential Elections, was enjoyed by all.
